Essential Materials
A suggestion of materials needed for a successful art project. Most schools provide the opportunity to purchase the more specialised equipment at lower prices before the courses start but it is handy to have some materials available at home.

Before you begin
- Enough space to store materials neatly (so they're easy to find)
- Sketchbook
- Folder or binder for spare notes
- Decently sized pencil case
- Palette/ disposable plate for mixing paint
- An old jar or cup with water to rise paintbrushes
- An apron
Optional
- Large plastic bag/ folder for transporting work on rainy days
- Car for transporting heavy art work
- Locker to store art work in
Equipment
- Professional rubber/eraser
- Large scissors (at home)
- Craft knife
- PVA glue, super glue and a glue-stick
- Wide and narrow paintbrushes
- 30 cm ruler, sharpener, small scissors, hole puncher and other school basics

Pens
- Black, blue and red biro pens
- White ballpoint pen or tippex (for dark surfaces)
- Felt tips
- Ink or fountain pen
- Fine liner

- Large graphite and charcoal sticks
- Graded graphite pencils (graded 6H to 6B)
- Watercolour pencils
- Colour pencils (including various shades, black and white)
