In Unit 01, sketchbooks are marked with four Assessment Objectives

AO1- Contextual References/ Art History- collect information about art from various time periods all around the globe
AO2- Experiment with ideas and Refine each one of them
AO3- Record from real life through photography and observational sketches/still life
AO4-Present a final piece which extends from the development of your own ideas but links to artists and materials you have researched throughout a project

Externally Set Assignments (Exams) for Unit 02 are also marked out of 80.
Your total mark is out of 160, which decides your final grade. Grade boundaries vary every year but as long as you tick most of the assessment objectives, you can be confident you are working at the level your teacher tells you.

You can be a Limited (F/G), Basic (D/E), Competent (C), Confident (B) or Fluent (A/A*) student. You don't have to be amazing at art to be fluent, just research and present imaginatively and confidently. Examiners want to give you as many marks as they can and mark your work generously with a 'sufficiently flexible interpretation'. Writing quality (annotations) will also be marked so if your handwriting is scruffy type up your answers.
